Over the years, Christmas has evolved from a celebratory festival of Jesus Christ’s birth to a season of getting together. The spirit of giving and sharing has made its influence all the way here in Nepal and our lifestyle too. After the end of Halloween, we can see the shops, cafes, and malls beginning to go all out with Christmas decorations. The merry colors of red, green, and white begin to appear symbolizing the season of joy. Along with the increasing cold of December 2021, came the festive season of Christmas.
Our team at Spiralogics was starting to set into the cozy mood with the Christmas Eve Party invite for the 24th of December. With our CEO, Samir Upadhyay, coming to Nepal and the covid restrictions of physical meet-ups lifting up after two whole years, we were ready to meet and enjoy the eve together. This would be my first time meeting all of the members in person and I was pretty excited to see the faces behind the voices I used to hear in virtual meetings.
After everybody’s arrival at the venue, Nepal Cottage Resort, the ambiance was starting to feel more uplifted and fun. After the short introductions by each new employee who joined after Dashain, our Communications Manager, Nisha Paudel assisted by Junior Communication Officer Bidhya Neupane formally started the event. The event began with the first game of ‘Know your colleague’. It was challenging, yes, but also created a good opportunity to strike conversations with team members you hadn’t talked to before. Finding the nitty-gritty details of someone’s life like the day they were born really pushes you to know them more in-depth. The first winner of the event was Sheela Paudel, our UI/UX Designer. The fun continued with the second game of drinking, the challenge being the fastest wins. The winners to each of the categories were Talent Management officer Surksha Khanal for Fanta, Senior Technology Manager Arun Thapa for OD, and Database Engineer Bishnu Tiwari for beer. With a lot of cheering coming through, the winners battled it out.
Then, the most awaited Secret Santa was here and the gift exchange began. We were all notified to bring a thoughtful gift along and so we did. Each of us got something to remember the day by as we matched the random number pulled out to the number labeled on the gift. A few selected lucky numbers got the additional cash prize of $20 each including QA Analysts Nirusha Manandhar and Pranay Shakya, Software Engineer Sujeen Rajak, Designer Sudip Maharjan, and lastly Project Manager Sujan Prajapati.
As the evening came by, the talented performers took it to the stage to entertain the audience. Among the musical talents of flute, guitar, and singing, some poetry came through to add to the fun. Eventually, Software Engineer Sajan Pasachhe , a former employee was given a token of appreciation for his contribution to Spiralogics for over three years. Following that, Senior .NET Engineer Ramesh Hyaunmikha was presented the certification for best present in TownHall Meeting 2021. Everyone started settling in around the campfire as the evening started getting colder. Slowly, the music got louder hyping up and people joined the dance floor. Following the dance, was a dinner break and it continued back on. With the number of sleepy members increasing, the potential candidates of ‘Last man or woman standing’ and the chance of receiving the special Ballentine Whisky from our CEO started decreasing. Since my next memory is of the morning, I cannot recall who won. But I came to know that there were quite a few contenders up until 4 am in the morning.
The next day, breakfast was served, and along came the inevitable goodbye. Those were incredible moments to add to the book of memories during our time at Spiralogics.
Thank you to everyone for enjoying along and making it a great night. Look forward to making more of such memories.
