While I’ve always celebrated Dashain and Tihar with my family at home, this year was a whole new experience. For the first time, I had the joy of celebrating these vibrant festivals with my colleagues at the office! The “Dashain Aayo 2081” and “Sparkle & Shine” Tihar events were nothing short of unforgettable, and I’m thrilled to share these incredible memories.

Dashain Aayo: Virtual Dashain Celebration

The event was organized virtually, but few of us were at the office. To make it more memorable, we had some food and cold drinks (a small party). The event was hosted by Nisha (Communications Manager) and Mehendi (Communications Officer), which began with insights about Dashain. Dipendra (Sr. Operations Manager) added a lively and entertaining touch to the celebration. He shared the story explaining how Maa Durga defeated the demon Mahishasur after a fierce nine-day battle, symbolizing the victory of good over evil, which is celebrated during Dashain. His storytelling was meaningful and full of humor.

We also had some fun activities and performances. Sanjok (Sr. Software Engineer) recited a heartfelt poem that we all enjoyed, followed by an engaging musical performance by Sujeen (Software Engineer). Harshita (Content Writer) and I hosted a game where people had to guess the song based on emojis shown on slides. The game was really engaging and fun. Most of the participants guessed them right. One memorable moment from the game was when no one could guess the song “Meri Maya Dui Chulthi Bateki” and I was hilariously forced to sing that song. I was so nervous because I only knew that one line. It was fun and memorable, and we all enjoyed the event.

Sparkle and Shine: Tihar Celebration

Tihar celebration on the other hand was conducted physically at the office, making it an even more immersive experience, especially for new employees like me. The event was joyful because it started with planning and decorating our office. Preparation began 2-3 days before the event. Our Communications team went shopping, and we had fun while decorating the office, bringing Tihar vibes to life.

The event was hosted by Mehendi, who began by sharing the significance of Tihar, emphasizing its cultural importance as a time of joy, togetherness, and the celebration of traditions. She also invited new interns to share their best memories of Tihar. There was also a dance performance by Ashika (intern) and me, it went well despite having limited time to prepare.

We hosted a fun game “Pick the Prop”. There were related props on a table and participants had to grab the item mentioned in a song. After some rounds, Trishna (Sr. Software Engineer) won this game and received the prize.

One of the most thrilling parts of the event was Deusi Bhailo Competition. Participants were divided into two groups: A & B. Thankfully, my team included my favorite people: Mehendi and Software Engineers - Bishal, Sagar, and Aashutosh. We were so nervous because we had zero preparation for the game, but Bishal was the hero of our team. He made the competition fun and engaging. Our Deuso Bhailo included lots of humor and performances. Mehendi and I gave a dance performance with zero preparation, but it turned out well.

After the first round, the theme for the second round was “Halloween” and we had to prepare everything in just 5 minutes. Despite all the pressure, we embraced fun vibes with creativity. Mehendi and I danced to the song “Aami Je Tomar” from the comedy-horror movie, Bhool Bhulaiya 3. Our opponent team was also good. Our hard work and creativity paid off when we won the Deusi Bhailo Competition with a cash prize of NPR 5000. The announcement of our win was a moment of pure joy because the other team collected more money from the audience during the competition, but in the end, we won. Mehendi and I literally jumped when Nisha announced us as the winning team.

The event concluded with an exciting announcement for the Best Attire Award, voted by the audience. Mehendi and Sujan (Sr. Project Manager) were the winners. Their attire was the best among all of us. Finally, lunch boxes were distributed, marking the end of a fantastic day.

Both events were incredibly memorable for me. These experiences not only deepened my appreciation for our culture but also strengthened bonds with my colleagues.
